Walmart pharmacies in New Mexico launch Testing and Treatment services

Walmart’s latest pharmacy offering, Testing and Treatment, has recently launched across New Mexico.

The program lets pharmacists test customers for flu, strep and COVID-19 — then, if positive, prescribe the appropriate treatment.

Testing and Treatment is offered seven days a week at all 45 Walmart pharmacies in New Mexico. Customers can walk in to make an appointment, or appointments can be made in the Walmart app or online.

The appointment begins with a brief consultation between the customer and the pharmacist. The pharmacist then administers a nasal or throat swab for the customer and runs the swab through a medical device to receive results. Once results are received, the pharmacist informs the customer and prescribes the proper medication, if necessary. Customers can expect the entire process — from consultation to receiving results — to take 30 minutes or less.

New Mexico marks the 15th state in which Walmart pharmacies have rolled out the Testing and Treatment program.
