Senior living apartments break ground in Rio Rancho
Catholic Charities Housing and its partners broke ground March 21 for a new senior living apartment complex on Stephanie Road.
“It feels wonderful to break ground and know that we can partner in a facility that will help seniors in the city of Rio Rancho and to know that it’s going to live on forever and the legacy of the Felician sisters who live on forever through this development,” Dolores Nunez, CEO of Catholic Charities, said.
The Felician Villa is inspired by the Felician Catholic Sisters of Rio Rancho and will have 132 apartments available for residents age 55 years and up.
“We have an aging population; we have a need for housing for those individuals, and so if this can help even 132 families, then it’s made a quick dent in what the need is,” Nunez said.
Felician Villa I and II will open in two phases and offer a range of amenities and services such as health and nutrition education, social activities and provide an environment where residents can “lead enriching lives.” An on-site service coordinator will also be available so residents have access to resources and support.
“This project is a shining example of what can be achieved when we come together for the greater good. Felician Villa is more than just bricks and mortar; it is about creating a loving community where our seniors can thrive,” EVP and COO Adam Saber said.
He added the apartments will provide another option for seniors in Rio Rancho.
The city is grateful to have another option to meet those needs.
“Our team has been dedicated to bringing this project online, and we feel this going to be a vital component to growing our community from from all levels so that we have housing availability at a full spectrum of offerings,” Mayor Gregg Hull said.
The project is already underway and is expected to finish in just over a year.
