RRPD investigates fraud call from NM Wolfpack Wrestling owner
RIO RANCHO — A criminal complaint filed by Rio Rancho Police Department Jan. 27 details an investigation prompted by a call from the New Mexico Wolfpack Wrestling owner about fraud within the business.
Stephanie Kollar, 37, of Albuquerque, was summoned for six counts of forgery tied to the incident.
The owner called police in October with the complaint alleging Kollar had been writing checks to herself and cashing them from his business account. He said he knew Kollar as an acquaintance and was trying to help her out.
He became aware of the fraud Oct. 24 when he attempted to use his business account to check into a hotel. After experiencing difficulty, he contacted his bank and discovered five checks were issued to Kollar totaling $650.
Police later discovered an additional check.
Police obtained a warrant for the bank records in November. Upon investigating the checks, police found Kollar deposited the checks in Albuquerque and often didn’t give reasons for their use. When she did give reason, one was for a raffle and the other was for cleaning services.
Police attempted contact with Kollar but discovered her phone numbers were disconnected. The search is ongoing.
Kollar could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
