RIO RANCHO — Rio Rancho’s Sandia Area Federal Credit Union celebrated its big renovation May 15.

Sandia Area CEO Kevin Todd talked about the work done on the building.

“This is the very first implementation of our new branch prototype, developed in partnership with a national design build firm Momentum. This remodeled branch embodies our bold vision for the future of member service and our employee experience. With wide open sight lines, abundant natural light, and thoughtful local design elements, we think we have created a warm, inviting atmosphere that fosters deeper, more meaningful connections,” he said of the location at NM 528 and Sara Road.

He said the branch is making strides to more digital channels.

“We’ve shifted our branch experience to a consultative, relationship-focused environment,” he said.

The space has more of a one-on-one feel with coffee tables and private rooms for meetings, according to Todd. Additionally, the credit union has a community room that can host financial education seminars, nonprofit gatherings and small business meetings.

“We want to express our sincere gratitude to Momentum for their exceptional design, build leadership, as well as the many talented local subcontractors from the Rio Rancho and Albuquerque area, whose hard work brought this vision smoothly and successfully to life,” he said.

One of the nonprofits Sandia Area supports is directly related to Rio Rancho Police Chief Stewart Steele. Steele’s wife founded Steele Got Your Six in 2016, which dedicated to providing support to police and their families in the community.

At the celebration, the credit union presented the nonprofit with a $1,000 check.

“This branch marks the beginning of a broader transformation, setting the standard for our entire branch network as we deepen our relationships with our members and communities,” Todd said.

The celebration was marked by a ribbon cutting. Rio Rancho Regional Chamber of Commerce President Jerry Schalow, Mayor Gregg Hull and Sandoval County Commission Chair Mike Meek all spoke at the event.

According to Schalow, the newly renovated facility features upgraded technology, enhanced member service areas and a modern design focused on accessibility and comfort to ensure Sandia Area remains a strong trusted financial partner in the community for years to come.
