Rick's Prehistoric Mini Golf is nearly ready, no official opening date yet
A sneak peak inside Rick’s Prehistoric Golf Course which is expected to be in full swing this summer.
RIO RANCHO — Rick’s Prehistoric Mini Golf in Rio Rancho is nearly complete.
“We are excited. We get calls everyday to see if we’re open. Unfortunately, I have to let people know that we are still under construction,” owner Richard “Rick” Lane said.
The new mini golf site is still getting through some inspections, but the grand opening is right around the corner.
“When people come by, they’ll be looking through the window, and we let them in and see how everything is coming along,” Lane said. “We don’t have an official date but we do plan on opening this month, hopefully by May 24.”
Rick’s Prehistoric Mini Golf will offer two 18-hole golf courses, 14 animatronic dinosaurs, Blue Bell ice cream, soft-serve ice cream, old-fashioned milkshakes, cotton candy, sodas and two party rooms that will be available for rent.
“We may add a few things after that, but that’s what we’re going to have at the beginning,” Lane said.
Rick’s Prehistoric Mini Golf also features some impressive artwork done by Grants muralist James Emory.
“I was just going to have a blue sky on the walls, but then he came in and offered his great talent, and it looks amazing,” Lane said of Emory’s work.
The two 18-hole golf courses will be in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
People awaiting their grand opening can check for updates in two ways: “Rick’s Prehistoric Mini Golf” Facebook page or online at ricksadventureworld.com.
“The fact that people are wanting means that when I am able to open people will be coming ... that makes it exciting for me,” Lane said.
