A local homebuilder won several awards for a home in Placitas.
Spiegel Kinsley Construction announced Monday it won second place for homes under 3,000 square feet in the high performance category from Structural Insulated Panel Association, a national construction awards program.
The Building Excellence Awards showcase projects that demonstrate long-lasting energy performance.
The same home, at 8 Ocate Court, also won first place for a home with the most kilowatt hour savings from Public Service Company of New Mexico. The house also received the Emerald Certification from Build Green New Mexico, which is the highest certification.
Spiegel Kinsley Construction builds sustainable luxury homes, according to its website. The company is building 11 climate-friendly homes in Placitas and seven in Santa Fe that have solar panels, all electric power and other features.
The award-winning home has a pending sale, according to the construction company’s website. Zillow, a real estate website, estimated the cost at more than $1 million.
“I am honored to accept these awards on behalf of the company,” Evan Kinsley, Spiegel Kinsley’s president, said in a statement. “The high performance homes we build are not only award-winning, but they also allow us to minimize our carbon footprint in the area. Our mission is to help pave the way for a more sustainable future for New Mexico.”
