Amreston Homes announced the opening of Park West Village, a home complex, in Northern Meadows. The company will host a ribbon cutting to celebrate it Sept. 21.

"So, 24 units in total, 22 of which are attached and two are standalone," Amreston Homes Division President Brian Earnest said.

However, eight of those become move-in ready at the end of the month. Earnest says the attached homes have an air gap between them to help with privacy.

These homes will be similar to the ones Amreston already built on the corner of Meadows Boulevard and Cherry Road.

"Those were about 200 to 240 square feet, smaller than these units. They're very similar but definitely geared towards new families and young professionals," Earnest said.

He added that the need for starter homes is great in Rio Rancho.

"We would love to have more offerings at lower price points like these to address market need costs. Infrastructure development and vertical construction outpace the incomes in New Mexico," he said.

To bring starting price down, the houses are smaller and on less land. Earnest says the quality is still priority, though.

Amreston Homes also prides itself on energy-efficient homes. They have won the PNM Energy Efficient Authorized Contractor award for highest average kilowatt hours savings two years in a row. They also won highest average therm savings with New Mexico Gas Co. in 2022. Earnest says they build the homes so usage is generally smaller. He added that this helps homeowners lower utility costs, depending on individual usage.

Earnest hopes to see people at the ribbon cutting and encourages people to consider buying one of the Park West Village homes.

"It is a great product at a very nice price point. The size offering, looking at our competition is about 200 square feet or so larger at a comparable or lower price point than what competition is offering. We have proximity to a fantastic park directly across, as well as significant amount of hiking, biking and walking trails in the community. There is also the Rio Rancho Events Center right there. The medical center is not too far away. It's a very convenient location," he said..

The ribbon cutting will take place from noon to 3 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Park West Village complex across from King Park in Northern Meadows. There will be food trucks, music and face painting.
