Global tech outage impacts RR

A global technology outage July 19 caused by a faulty crowdstrike software update grounded flights, knocked banks and media outlets offline as well as many other important community factors.

In Rio Rancho, the only clear impact as of yet has been on gas stations.

Rio Rancho Mayor Gregg Hull confirmed City Hall hasn't been impacted by the outage.

Capt. Jacqueline Reedy of Rio Rancho Police Department says dispatch is running as usual.

"Business as usual for us," she said.

Hospitals have seen impacts nationally, but Sandoval Regional Medical center has not seen the affects of the tech outage.

"At this point, this network outage does not appear to affect patient care at any UNM Health System facility, including SRMC; however, our teams are closely monitoring the situation," communications associate Nicole Roman said.

The biggest impact has been airports. At this time flights have been grounded until the issue is resolved.
