Husband/wife singer-songwriters Crystal and Pete Damore are touring in support of their self-titled album, Ordinary Elephant, released on May 3.

Ordinary Elephant began in 2014 when the Damores left their established careers to pursue music full time, hitting the road in an RV. They gained a following and won the International Folk Music Award for Artist of the Year in 2017 with their breakout album, “Before I Go.” Their 2019 follow-up, “Honest,” was praised as one of the best Americana and folk duo records of the year.

The performance is set for 7:30 p.m. with doors open at 6:30 p.m. Ticket information can be found at holdmyticket.com.

3. The Turnpike Troubadours and Los Lonely Boys will take the stage at the Rio Rancho Events Center at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 9.

The Turnpike Troubadours, “the Oklahoma kinds of Red Dirt music,” according to a press release, have returned from a 2019 three-year hiatus more popular than ever. Their most recent album, “A Cat in the Rain,” features 10 songs “in a tale of reliability, rebirth and redemption. It’s the story of brothers ... who ran the gauntlet of success, scrutiny, and even personal troubles and would fight tooth and nail for one another.”

The Los Lonely Boys will be the opening act for the Turnpike Troubadours.

Los Lonely Boys
Los Lonely Boys will perform with The Turnpike Troubadours Nov. 9 at the Rio Rancho Events Center.

The Grammy-winning trio emerged in 1996 and have produced the gold-certified hit “Heaven,” which also won a Grammy for “Best Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.” Their albums include “Sacred,” “Forgiven,” “Rocpango,” and “Revelation.” The trio has collaborated with Santana, Willie Nelson and Dr. John and have performed at the World Series and CMT’s Crossroads.

Like the Turnpike Troubadours, Los Lonely Boys took a break in 2019, coming back on the scene when The Who invited them to open a string of shows around Cinco de Mayo in 2022, after which they began writing, recording and touring again.

Tickets for the Nov. 9 show are available at ticketmaster.com.

4. The Rio Rancho Astronomical Society will host its regular monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at Rainbow Park Observatory, 301 Southern Blvd.

The topic of the program will be “Buying Your First Telescope.” After a brief lecture, members will have a variety of telescopes set up for viewing, explain how they work and answer questions.

The meeting is free and open to the public. For more information, visit rrastro.org.

Editor's note from 12:30 p.m. Thursday: The Rio Rancho Astronomical Society November meeting scheduled for November 8th, has been cancelled due to inclement weather. The presentation "Buying Your First Telescope" will be rescheduled.

5. Ma’s Tea House, a new boba shop in Enchanted Hills, has been established for a little more than three months now and will celebrate it ribbon cutting Nov. 9.

Ma's Tea House
Though most of the teas are expected to have "toppings" in them, not all of them do and not all of them are boba.

But that won’t be the only spectacle in the Enchanted Hills Plaza. With the approval of the surrounding businesses, owner Lorenzo Trujillo will be hosting a Boba and Cars car show that day.

The events will start at 4 p.m. with the ribbon cutting. There will be a raffle, yard games, face painting and more.

A percent of the proceeds from boba sales will benefit the Hometown Heroes Banner Foundation.
