1. Celebrate the holiday season at Winterfest in Rio Rancho’s City Center from 5-8 p.m. Friday.

The event includes a parade, photos with Santa, the tree-lighting ceremony and fireworks. Parade lineup begins at 4 p.m. Visits with Santa begin at 5 p.m. with the parade following at 6 p.m. The evening concludes with fireworks at 7 p.m. The schedule is subject to change, and all event times are subject to weather and may be canceled to to snow, rain, wind, lighting or public health orders.

There is no fee to attend, and parking and seating is available on a first-come-first-served basis.

2. It’s a full weekend of holiday celebrations in Bernalillo. On Friday, the town will host its Christmas tree and water tower lighting at 6 p.m. at Town Hall. Then, on Saturday the Christmas parade will makes its way down Camino del Pueblo at 6:30 p.m. The theme of this year’s parade is “Santa’s Toy Factory.”

3. Corrales is also hosting its Star Light Parade at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Cookies, cider and visits with Santa will follow in the Rec Center for the village’s annual St. Nick’s Night.

4. The Rio Rancho Youth Chorus and the Children’s Chorus of Rio Rancho are joining forces to host their winter concert, “Warming the Heart and Home,” at 2 p.m. Dec. 7-8 at 841 Saratoga Drive NE.

In spirit of the holiday season, the choirs will continue their tradition of collecting items for a local nonprofit. At the December performance, they will be collecting toiletries for CASA Partners 4NMKids. Attendees are encouraged to bring items to be donated to children in foster care.

Tickets are $15-$20 and are available at rr-cc.org with proceeds benefitting RRCC’s local music programs and scholarships for children pursuing music.

5. Cielo Azul Elementary School’s annual holiday craft fair is coming Dec. 7.

The fair will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the school’s gymnasium, and admission to the event is free.
