Soccer championship brackets are set

ALBUQUERQUE — The NMAA Soccer State Championship seeding show took place on Sunday evening, and the brackets for this year's tournaments are set.

The Rio Rancho boys grabbed a three-seed after a stellar season in which they won the Class 5A-District 1 Title. They'll get a first-round bye as an additional reward for their efforts.

The Cleveland boys recovered from a mid-season dip and surged down the stretch. The Storm managed to just make it, getting the final (12) seed. They'll take on a strong Rio Grande Ravens team in the first round.

The Cleveland girls put together a strong season and finished with a strong seven-seed. They'll face the Albuquerque High Bulldogs in round one.

Unfortunately, the Rio Rancho girls did not secure a spot in the tournament despite a solid season under first-year head coach Jenna Sievers.
