LAS CRUCES — The 48th annual Bob Ogas’ All-Star Baseball Classic brought a lot of talented high school baseball players to Las Cruces to play a three-game series June 12-14 for one last “hurrah.”

Players from Bernalillo, Cleveland and Rio Rancho high schools were all present at the Field of Dreams to represent their teams.

From RRHS was Jackson Roybal, who played for the green team; from Cleveland was Gabe Nelson, who played for the red team; and from Bernalillo was Uriel Castro. All three were seniors who played for the final time in their respective school uniforms.

Roybal brought some juice when up to bat, and the Scottsdale Community College commit had himself a nice weekend.

Having a huge game two was Castro, who scored four runs and helped the red team win 8-4. During the game, Castro teammate Xander Parra brought the house down with a huge home run.

“Play with confidence and do what you do,” Nelson shared to any up-and-coming Storm baseball player.

Nelson was a huge asset to the red team as a defensive stud and had several hits.

In the end, the red team won the three-game series as they won the final game 12-7.

“Good luck in the next few years! As my legacy concludes, it’s up to you all to continue to build it ,but most importantly, just have fun when you’re out there,” Castro said to the Spartan community.

Next season, Castro will play baseball at Eastern New Mexico University.
