Historic site program takes to the skies with focus on birds
BERNALILLO — May is "All About Birds" at the Coronado Historic Site First Sunday event.
Site Manager Wendi Laws will lead a bird walk along the site's trails from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, May 4. Participants can experiment with different tools to discover how bird beaks determine what different birds eat and create a bird mask based on different birds found at the site. Those going on the bird walk are encouraged to bring binoculars as the site has limited pairs on hand.
The program is free to New Mexico residents, those age 16 and under, those with Native and tribal affiliations, disabled veterans and foster families. There will be a $7 fee for all others.
The Coronado Historic Site is located at 485 Kuaua Road, Bernalillo.
