Banana Ball is back, Baby!
ALBUQUERQUE (Oct. 3, 2024) – The Albuquerque Isotopes announced that on May 24-25, 2025, they will, once again, open their doors to America’s favorite wacky, fun and out of control style of ball play: Banana Ball.
Named after the league’s most famous team, the Savannah Bananas, “Banana Ball” combines baseball and family entertainment for a fun and interactive fan experience.
According to the league’s website, the rules of Banana Ball include: no bunting, a two-hour time limit, fans catching foul balls for outs, batters stealing first base, and a one-on-one tiebreaker showdown at the end of the game if the score is tied.
Things will be a little different this time however, as the Banana’s archrivals, the Party Animals, are hosting their very own world tour, which launches from RGCU Field at Isotopes Park in Albuquerque on May 24-25.
The Animals will face the league’s newest member: the Texas Tailgaters.
“Coming off a sold-out 2024 headline tour, the Party Animals are doing it even bigger at Isotopes Park, hometown of ‘Banana Ball’s’ top pitcher Drew Gillespie,” said Party Animals announcer Drake Toll during the “2025 Banana World Tour Draft” on Oct. 3.
Gillespie, an Albuquerque native, graduated from Sandia High School in 2017 before playing baseball at the University of New Mexico from 2017-19.
“The Bananas and Party Animals had such an amazing experience in Albuquerque last year and are still raving about the support our community showed them,” said Isotopes General Manager John Traub in a news release. “Our community is amazing, and we know that the Party Animals headlining their own tour is going to be phenomenal.”
Tickets for the 2025 Party Animals World Tour games will go on sale approximately two months prior to the scheduled event dates. Games at Isotopes Park are $35 apiece, though the news release says, “Little Party Animals (children three years of age and under) are free as long as the youngsters sit on their parents’ lap.”
