Suspect shot during Rio Rancho home invasion dies

RIO RANCHO — A suspect died at a hospital Jan. 25 after being shot in the torso by a homeowner in the 1500 block of 12th Street.

According to a Rio Rancho Police Department release on social media, the homeowner shot the suspect during a home invasion after reportedly kicking the door multiple times before entering without permission.

The homeowner has been released by police.

The incident is still under investigation and will be updated when information becomes available.
