Residents sheltered in place for gun incident Friday

Residents of Rio Rancho in the area of Parr Road and Rosewood Drive sheltered in place around 8 p.m. Sept. 6.
According to Rio Rancho Police Department Capt. Jacquelynn Reedy, RRPD was dispatched to the 2100 block of Rosswood Drive to arrest Erik Chavez, who was intoxicated and shot at least one round of ammunition off inside his residence.
He was taken into custody without incident and charged with negligent use of a deadly weapon.
