The New Mexico Film Office announced Monday that an untitled Vince Gilligan project is filming in and around Albuquerque.
Gilligan, the award-winning producer and creator of "Breaking Bad" and Better Call Saul," is at the helm of a new, untitled project which has been filming in New Mexico since March.
Several Rio Rancho locations were used in both "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul."
The new series will star Rhea Seehorn, who starred in “Better Call Saul” as Kim Wexler, but will not be a part of the "Breaking Bad" universe.
"New Mexico has proven to be an excellent creative partner for Mr. Gilligan. I welcome him and Rhea Seehorn back to the state," Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said. "We are committed to ensuring the success of any production this creative and talented ensemble brings to New Mexico."
New Mexico Film Office Director Amber Dodson said the production will employ more than 1,400 New Mexicans, including 500-plus crew members, 100-plus principal actors, and 800-plus background talent.
“I'm thrilled to be working in New Mexico again,” Gilligan said. “Story-wise, this new show could have been set anywhere in the United States. However, I keep returning to the Land of Enchantment for the beautifully cinematic landscape and to continue working with the best crew ever. They've been making me look good for 17 years now, and I figure, ‘Why fix it if it ain't broke?’”
