LETTER TO THE EDITOR: City should build senior community
I wonder whether or not the city and developers would consider developing a modern 60-plus adult-only community that is affordable, efficient, homes 1,200 square feet or less, with ADA-width doorways and hallways and include a clubhouse with pool?
One location could be the old golf course here in Rio Rancho instead of a big housing development. Small homes with native habitat and walking/golf cart trails I can easily envision. There's also a vacant area on the corner of Rockaway and Northern where there was an elementary school.
We have plenty of fast-food places, car washes and very little in the way of "fine" dining, so why not an upgrade for senior living that are not apartments? And not necessarily "low-income?" I think there is a huge opportunity here for such a development for our "City of Vision."
If help is needed with conceptual designing of such a place, I'm available!
