Coming off a disappointing 73-9 loss to the Allen Wranglers last week, the New Mexico Stars (2-6) will be out to stop their three-game losing streak on the road when the Everett Raptors (2-6) visit Santa Ana Star Center.
The Stars trailed 31-0 at halftime in Allen, where former NFL star Terrell Owens caught six passes and scored once in the rout.
Zeke Arevalo kicked an 18-yard field goal in the third quarter for New Mexico, while Ryan Bugg’s catch of a 33-yard scoring pass from quarterback Arkelon Hall rounded out the Stars’ scoring. That TD pass came early in the fourth quarter, cutting the Wranglers’ lead tom 52-9.
It marked the worst loss of the season for the Stars, and the fewest points they’ve scored in an Indoor Football League.
Saturday’s game (7:05 p.m. kickoff) is the first of two meetings with the Raptors; the second game will be played May 31 in Everett, Wash.
The Stars will celebrate Mother’s Day, as the team will give gifts from the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory to the first 300 mothers through the doors, which open at 5:30 p.m. As a part of the homecoming the Stars will treat fans to 50-cent popcorn and fans over the age of 21 to $2 draft
