City Councilor Mike Williams was cited Tuesday by a Rio Rancho code enforcement officer for parking his mobile sign, city spokesman Peter Wells confirmed.
The sign is parked along Southern Boulevard in a shopping center where a voting convenience center is located.
The citation will be heard in municipal court in the future, Wells said.
The final penalty will be up to the judge. Any person found guilty of violating any of the provisions of this code will be fined not more than $500 or imprisoned for a period of not more than 90 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment, and each day this code is violated constitutes a separate offense, provided, however, that if a specific penalty is provided therefore in any particular and individual section of this code, then the specific penalty shall prevail, Wells said in an email.
The Observer has not been able to contact Williams regarding his mobile sign.
