A family was arrested after police said they found remnants of a meth operation inside their Rio Rancho home.

Last Wednesday, Rio Rancho officers with a search warrant entered a home on the 1600 block of Domain Loop where said they found evidence of a meth lab operation including drug paraphernalia and the raw ingredients to make methamphetamine.

Arrested were Thomas Wathen, 43, charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Also arrested were Wethen’s two children, his 18-year-old daughter and 16-year-old son. The daughter, who was on probation, was charged with possession of methamphetamine and probation violation and the son was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. The girl had her 18th birthday on Thursday. Also arrested was Wathen’s girlfriend, Rebecca Blea. Blea was charged with probation violation.

Rio Rancho Police Spokesman John Francis said a CrimeStopper tip and several neighbor complaints led police to the home. Neighbors complained of traffic outside the home at all hours.

Police said Wathen had security cameras installed outside the home that fed into monitors in his bedroom. Police do not think the home was an active meth lab.

Francis said meth labs are not as frequent in Rio Rancho as in years past.
